Once the godly understand that afflictions do not happen by chance or merely from ungodly or merciless enemies but rather come only with the permission of their good, wise, and omnipotent God, they will discover that their afflictions will lead to much good. The Lord, our good God, does not delight in tormenting his children but chastens them when they need it (1 Peter 1:6). The Holy Spirit teaches the godly that God tempers the cup of sorrow they are given to drink, mixing it with blessed spices so that they can benefit from their chastisements. They thus have no reason to fear lasting harm from these afflictions.

Death is Not Dying
Rachel Barkey (nee Sawer) went home to her Lord on July 2, 2009 at 37 years of age. Rachel is survived by her husband Neil and her children Quinn and Kate, parents Ben and Cathy Sawer, brother David (Johanna) Sawer and sister Andrea Sawer.
But for Rachel the essence of life was found in her relationship with God through Jesus. And that's why Rachel was convinced that death is not dying.
